or How What You Don't Know Can Loose You Money

If you learn nothing else, you need to know what a MFA or Made for Adsense website is. Likewise, you may benefit from knowing what section targeting is.

These basics are not simply how to insert ads on your pages. The basics are the things you don't take time to read because you are so overwhelmed with just getting an ad up on your page.

Once your ads are in place and you have the process down, there are some things you should know.

Although you can put three ad units on your site, do you really want to? An ad unit can have one, two, three or four ads per unit. What do you want the visitors to experience? Only ads? Or rich content. Did you know that within units(groups of ads) the further down in the group the visitor clicks the less the ad will pay?

Google suggests where the best place is to place their ads. This may be true of most sites but not necessarily of your site. What is the best location?

My public speaking site improved by putting the ads at the bottom of the page. This is contrary to what most people have experienced.

My theory, they are coming to the site for information, not to find an ad somewhere. So by placing the ad at the bottom, it is a logical progression of where to go next.

One note here...I am currently reducing my pages to a range of 250-750 words, by turning lengthier pages into multiple pages. Then the pages are reworked to have a natural progression. If readers like the first page, then the next will add the answer to a naturally occuring question.

Now, with ads at the end of each shorter page, it is equivilent to having three ad sets or units at the end of one long page.

In experimenting with the ads, you can incorporate the exact colors of your site. I find that matching the ad color to the color of my links works best for my visitors.

Test and see what works best with your visitors.

MFA or Made for Adsense sites, Scraper sites, and Adsense arbitrage are all pitfalls for website businesses.

Adsense Arbitrage--buying Adwords spots for lower cost search terms and bringing the visitor to a page that is mostly Adsense. The arbitrager then makes the difference between the low value clicks he bought from AdWords and the higher value clicks generated by this traffic on his MFA sites.

One adword buyer was spending a million dollars a month. Be assured he was making multiples of millions a month too. Well, until he was recently shut down. Bunches of people lost their jobs along with him.

Until and if all are shut down, you need to use competitive filters to prevent these MFA sites from capturing most of your profits.

Just having your ads on a keyword focused page is not enough. You still need the ads focused on the best paying words or concept.
