The Secret to Business Post Cards Success Here are a few basic steps to make them work. 1) First, decide what your most wanted response is (MWR). Quite simply, what do you want? Create a statement that has one of the following formulas:

What is Your Most Wanted Response or Your MWRDecide what is the primary and secondary Most Wanted Response for your card. Once you determine that, all your work has to focus on that end result. But wait, why two MWR’s? Why a primary and secondary? People only consume when they are ready. Offer all you want, if they are not ready, they are probably not going to consume. You have heard the saying, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. This is true of humans too and of all consumables such as food, information (brain food) or solutions to problems. If you do not have a broken leg, you will not need a doctor. If you are not hungry, you are less likely to eat. If you do not have a problem, you will not be seeking a solution. So what does this have to do with your secondary response? Your secondary response should present a second way to build a relationship with your potential customer. This way, when they are ready to consume, you will be in front of or available to them. After all, when your thirsty, you will go for the nearest water. You want to be near. Note: It is less likely people will pay for preventive measures than actual solutions to existing problems. People will almost never pay for suggestions or ideas. Solutions reign supreme in the world of direct marketing and web marketing. So in the website postcard, your most wanted response and secondary response should be related to a solution. One MWR might be to get them to sign up and have them on your mailing list where you provide some kind of basic solution. The secondary MWR could be to have them become a loyal visitor of your site, or have them bookmark your site. It could be to build credibility in your company. it could be to start a relationship and get referrals visits to your site. Word of Caution Only one primary and one secondary MWR per card. More than that and you will confuse your audience. The primary should be overt and the secondary covert. If you will be using a second business post card, stick with the same primary MWR and introduce the new secondary MWR. It may be a secondary offer that they could benefit from, an offer related to the first MWR. What is Your Problem - Solution - Target Audience Statement?In the case of a website, the most wanted response may be to get them to sign up for your Ezine or your news letter. It was assumed that people could connect the dots. In discussing it with the client, the most wanted response was to get potential customers to sign up for the mailing and eventually to buy the product they created and attend the seminars they were putting on. The business owner decided to use the model of.... The domain name The combo of Sexy Statement, Proof and Void. The next revision.... You can buy investment property for 50 cents on the dollar. The problem was that although sexy, it had no basis for being believable. The spam filters in peoples minds would turn them off and they would not turn to the website. There was no proof. Once you start a campaign, test its effectiveness. Although not totally effective, Google Analytics is a good place to start. It can tell you where the traffic is coming from. There is a new format and if you install it yourself, it needs to be on top now. It goes just before the closing head tag. Your web guy may not know this.
