  • You have a bunch of names from a former opt-in campaign or maybe a store sign up sheet. What you may think will be a blast from the past will in reality be stale spam.

Some recommend never going longer than one month without mailing something. Others say a two month limit is acceptable. Never longer than that unless you have an internet equivalent of a death wish.

So one day the organizer of a show I am participating in sends me a list of attendees, their addresses and their contact information, including their e-mail addresses. I have been in shows with a few hundred vendors. Imagine having to sift through that many e-mails on top of trying to get the last minute details cared for. Does this mean you can’t contact them all without being at risk? No.

      Consider what happened to one vendor. He somehow received a shipment assigned to another vendor at the same show. Unable to reach them at the number on the office information on the contact sheet (they were out of state), an e-mail reached the frantic vendor in time to save the day.
