People are not searching for your new domain name. They are searching for keywords. If you have a keyword in your URL that a few hundred people are searching for, you stand a chance to get some of that traffic. If you use a keyword that gets thousands of visits a day you stand a chance to get an even larger portion of that traffic. There is one challenge. If there are thousand of pages devoted to the keyword, then it may be difficult to get some of that traffic. Note:In the case of the keyword Art, there are 50,000 searches a day. Sounds like a great keyword to include in a URL domain name. However, there are 5 million pages to compete with. Furthermore, the first 30 pages on most searches are websites like MOMA, and all of the great art galleries of the world. The chances of getting in the top 10 spots for this word are impossible. |
